Coldplay

Coldplay is a band British, formed in London in 1997. It is composed by 5 members: Chris Martin (lead vocalist and pianist), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (bajísta), Will Champion (drummer and vocalist secondary) and Phil Harvey (creative director).

They met at the University College London and began playing music together from 1997 until 1998, initially calling themselves Big Fat Noises and then Starfish.

After the launch of an independent EP , Safety (1998), Coldplay signed to Parlophone in 1999. The band’s debut album, Parachutes (2000), included their successful single ” Yellow , “and received a Brit Award for British Album of the Year, a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and a nomination for the Award to Mercury .

Their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), won the same praise and included the singles ” The Scientist “ and ” Clocks “, and the latter won an award Grammy for Record of the year .

Highlighted by a production problem, the third album of the band, X&Y (2005), was the biggest selling of the year across the world, an achievement repeated by his successor, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), which saw them exploring new musical styles, after the completion of what is considered a trilogy.

They received an award Grammy for Best Rock Album and his first nomination for Album of the Year, while the main song became the first single from a British group to reach number one in both the United Kingdom and in the United States in the century XXI .

Despite its popularity and impact, Coldplay has earned the reputation of being musical icons polarizing.
