Barbra Streisand – Memory (Official Video)

Lyrics:

Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp sputters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn’t give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me, it’s so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you’ll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun

Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand: “Sometimes I felt that my nose was getting more attention than myself”

After six decades of international success, the singer and actress is naked in her new biography of almost 1,000 pages, ‘My name is Barbra’.

Barbra Streisand takes six decades positioned at the top of the cusp of global fame. Now, the 81 years of his life he has recorded in his autobiographical book, which hits bookstores on Tuesday, November 7. My name is Barbra , the title that receives the publication, is a piece culmination of nearly 1,000 pages who runs his historic career, his escape from Broadway to California to his well-known love life in Hollywood.

Just a few hours ago that the volume lies in the shelves and have already become owners of some of the extracts it contains. For example, the reason why singer and actress has never been operated nose to spite have been down multiple times to do so, as neither wanted to hide their teeth to “have more success in the world of the show.” “Sometimes I felt that my nose was getting more attention than my own artistic talent,” says in his writings. In spite of everything, Streisand is proud to reveal their memories, because “the only way to have some control over my life”. “This is my legacy,” he speaks in a statement to the tv channel british BBC. “I wrote my story, I don’t have to do more interviews after this.”

After enduring a battery of criticism for its physical, something that has remained until the present, the american actress and singer has used the pages of his book to explain and assert shamelessness that he always liked the shape of your nose. “I liked the noses long… the Italian actress Silviana Mangano had one, and they all seemed to think that was beautiful,” he declares in his memoirs. The actress came seriously to consider the operation of aesthetics, but dismissed the idea quickly for the complications that could have harmed his health and his career. “It was too risky. And who knew what that could have done to my voice? Once the doctor told me I had a deviated septum… maybe that is why I speak as I speak,” he writes.

In the 992 pages, Streisand remembered for his roles in films such as awkward Girl , a star is Born or the way we were , also has taken the opportunity to talk about some of the pressures that lived within the film industry and the double moral standard for the artists. “I wish I could say that none of this affected me, but it did. After all these years, I still hurt, insults, and I don’t even think that the compliments that I have received throughout my career to be real”.

In 1964, the magazine Time published on the cover a picture profile that defined the nose of the artist as a “sanctuary,” which gave his face the essence of the dog”, said the publication. “I guess when you become famous, you become public property. You are an object to be examined, photographed, analyzed, dissected… and half the time I don’t recognize the person they are portraying. I have never used and I try to avoid reading anything about me,” she admits in his book.

The star, who has won the famous combination EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony), is immersed in the decades of his artistic work in the entertainment industry. But also in their romantic relationships and work , they go hand in hand in the history of his life. In the book, he shares anecdotes of the recordings of his films, where he shared moments with Marlon Brando; and even the first flirtations with James Brolin, who became her third husband in 1998. “James and I met at a point in my life where basically I had already given up on love. And, frankly, I was alone. I had my son, great friends who gave me company, my work was meaningful, and I loved my new house in Malibu with ocean views,” he writes.

In addition, multiple curiosities about the artist have come to light with the publication of his memoirs. The singer reveals how he has personally asked the director of Apple, Tim Cook, that the virtual assistant Siri to pronounce correctly your last name. “My name is not written with a ‘Z’ but with ‘S’, as the sand of the beach in English ‘sand’. What can be simpler?”. In a few days, Cook order to change the pronunciation of the virtual robot. “It’s one of the advantages of fame.”

“I don’t have a lot of fun throughout my life, and I want to enjoy myself more,” he said after being asked about his future in the presentation of the book, this Monday in London. “I want to live my life. I want to get to the truck, my husband and just ride, taking turns with lucky, with the children somewhere near us, when we come. Love to play with the dogs, we had fun,” he concludes.
