Burt Bacharach was born on May 12, 1929, in Kansas City , Missouri, United States.

Family

The son of Irma M. Freeman and Mark Bertram Bacharach, a journalist.

His family was Jewish, but the guys that are linked were Catholics did not want anyone to know about it. He grew up in Forest Hills, New York.

Studies

A graduate of Forest Hills High School in 1946, he already played the piano at the institute. He conducted studies of this instrument and of composition at the Mannes School of Music, the Berkshire Music Center, and McGill University in the city of Montreal.

Pianist

Lover of folk music, he also played the piano during his military service, later found worked as a companion of Vic Damone and other singers.

Composer

In the year 1957 composed by Hal David and began to taste the success with Magic Moments (1957) and The Story of My Life (1957). Between 1958 and 1961, Bacharach was the musical director in shows of Marlene Dietrich . He returned to work with Hal David and during the 60s and early 70’s, his music did win the singer Dionne Warwick several concessions to the Grammy .

Raindrops Keep Fallin (1969) was another of its super hits, however, Promises (1968) was his theme more successful.

Many of his songs were sung by such artists as The Beatles , The Carpenters , Barbra Streisand , Aretha Franklin , B. J. Thomas ( Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head ), Tom Jones ( What’s New, Pussycat ), The Stranglers , Jackie DeShannon , and Luther Vandross . Many of his songs were adapted by musicians of jazz as Wes Montgomery.

Movies

Composer and arranger for films such as Alfie , 1966, and 1967, Casino Royale . In 1969, the song performed by BJ Thomas Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid “won the award for Oscar as best song of the Soundtrack.

Among his compositions, the most notable are Arthurs Theme ( Best That You Can Do ) ( Christopher Cross ), Heartlight ( Neil Diamond ), Making Love , On My Own and That’s What Friends Are For 1985.

In 1998, he co-wrote and produced the album, award- winning, Grammy Elvis Costello , Painted From Memory . In 2006, launched a jazz album with Trijntje Oosterhuis titled The Look Of Love .

Partners and children

Her first marriage was to Paula Stewart and lasted five years (1953-1958). The second was with the actress Angie Dickinson , and they were married for 15 years (1965-1980). They had a daughter, Nikki Bacharach, who committed suicide in 2007 at the age of 40.

His third marriage was to lyricist Carole Bayer Sager; (1982-1991). With Sager collaborated on a series of musical pieces and adopted his son Christopher.

In 1993, he married Jane Hansen, and were the parents of two children.

His autobiography, Anyone Who Had a Heart, was published in 2013.

Death

Bacharach, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 94 of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles.
